Silver Lion Farms is looking for a dependable, seasonal Farm Equipment Operator to join our team in White Pine County, Ely, Nevada.

About the Position

We are currently seeking a hardworking and dependable Farm Equipment Operator join our team for our 2025 alfalfa harvest season. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of farm machinery to support harvesting our organic alfalfa crops. This is a seasonal position from April to October (or as needed). This position is not eligible for overtime pay.

Typical shift hours: Hours can vary but typically are Monday–Friday from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Longer shift hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, are likely during harvests. 

Location: This is an onsite position at our Ely, Nevada location at 30955 N. Alt, US-93, Ely, NV 89301 (near the intersection of US Rt 93 and US Alt Route 93).

Core Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Operate harvesting equipment such as swathers, balers, rakes, loaders, tractors, and other farm equipment in a safe and efficient manner. 
• Assist with daily machinery inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs. 
• Monitor crop quality and report any issues or inconsistencies to supervisors. 
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures at all times. 
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment. 
• Support other field labor and farm operations as needed. 

• Ability to pass a background check and be at least 18 years of age. 
• Valid Driver's License Required.
• Previous experience operating agricultural or heavy machinery is preferred, but we will train all new hires on the use of our equipment. 
• Familiarity with alfalfa or forage crop harvesting is a major plus. 
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather. 
• Ability to follow organic guidelines for cleaning and standard operating procedures (SOPs). 
• Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated. 
• Ability to work independently as well with a team and take direction from management. 
• Strong work ethic and respect for confidentiality and cleanliness standards. 

Physical Requirements    

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating machinery and equipment. 
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day. 
• Ability to climb on and off equipment and work from various heights. 
• Use of hands and arms to operate controls, handle tools, and perform routine maintenance. 
• Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. 
• Ability to work in outdoor environments exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, dust, and humidity. 
• Ability to hear and respond to equipment sounds, safety alarms, and verbal directions over engine noise. 
• Visual acuity to detect equipment issues, crop quality, and follow safety procedures.
